Occupational Health Nurse – Construction Site

We’re looking for a dedicated and proactive Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) to join our construction site team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on the health, safety, and wellbeing of our workforce. The successful candidate will lead onsite health initiatives, ensure compliance with Irish health and safety standards, and champion a culture of care, resilience, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Health & Wellbeing Services
* Deliver weekly site inductions and health & safety briefings.
* Manage the on-site Health & Wellbeing Cabin as a confidential, supportive space.
* Conduct routine health surveillance (BP, BMI, blood sugar, etc.) in line with HSA guidelines.
* Provide compassionate, approachable support for employees experiencing mental health challenges.
2. Strategic Health Promotion
* Create and share engaging health communications across site platforms.
* Lead health campaigns aligned with the HSA’s national health calendar.
* Organise health-focused events, workshops, and awareness days on site.
3. Clinical & Operational Oversight
* Provide clinical guidance to on-site medics and first aiders.
* Support return-to-work and rehabilitation plans in collaboration with management and trades.
* Maintain accurate, confidential health records in compliance with GDPR and HSA requirements.
4. Mental Health Leadership
* Provide immediate support following critical incidents, ensuring structured follow-up.
* Act as Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) Lead, coordinating and mentoring the MHFA team.
* Facilitate regular debriefs and produce a monthly mental health and wellbeing newsletter.
5. Community & Culture Building
* Participate in quarterly OHN meetups and peer learning sessions.
* Promote access to external support services and wellbeing charities.
* Work closely with EHS teams and trade representatives to strengthen our holistic safety culture.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMBI registration.
* Recognised Occupational Health Nursing qualification (preferred).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational health—ideally within construction or industrial environments.
* Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification (mandatory).
