Our client is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join their team in Galway on a permanent contract.
Job Purpose:
This role involves providing electrical and electronic engineering support and expertise in the definition, design, development and testing of medical device products.
Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, test and improve electrical circuits and systems for therapeutic ablation catheters and consoles.
2. Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electronic test failures, providing solutions at both component and system level.
3. Drive prototype development of catheters and console interfaces from concept to launch, working closely with cross-functional teams.
4. Research, evaluate and select circuits, components and tools to support advanced therapy device design.
5. Prepare documentation including protocols, technical reports, change requests and design history files in line with quality standards.
6. Translate clinical needs into innovative engineering solutions, identifying opportunities for product improvement and IP generation.
7. Present technical updates, risks and milestones to project leaders and senior stakeholders.
8. Maintain a strong focus on patient safety and product quality by adhering to all quality policies and procedures.
9. Ensure proper resources are in place to support Quality System compliance.
Requirements:
* Level 8 Degree in Electrical Engineering.
* 5+ years of experience in medical devices or other highly regulated industries, preferably with catheter-based or implantable systems.
* Hands-on expertise in circuit/system design, system troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
* Proven experience with regulatory/safety standards (IEC60601 series, EMC).
* Strong communication, documentation and project management skills.
