Position: Senior Physiotherapist – Neuro/Older Person Rehabilitation Contract: Permanent Hours: Full Time Salary range: HSE Consolidated Pay-scale 1st August **** Reporting to: Physiotherapist Manager *** Full Job Description Attached*** PURPOSE OF POST To work, in conjunction with other team members, in co-ordinating and developing the service to meet the needs of the population it serves in line with the objectives of the organisation.
To be responsible for the provision of a safe, high-quality physiotherapy service in accordance with standards of professional practice.
To carry out clinical, administrative and educational duties as required.
To work with the Physiotherapist Manager in ensuring the co-ordination, development and delivery of a high quality, person-centred physiotherapy service across and between networks in the geographical area.
More specifically, the Senior Physiotherapist, as part of the Physiotherapy Team will: Manage, develop and evaluate a post-acute physiotherapy rehabilitation unit.
Plan and implement individualised, evidence-based treatment programmes for patients meeting the agreed inclusion criteria in individual or group settings.
Be an expert resource in post-acute rehabilitation (Neuro/Older Person Rehabilitation) for physiotherapists working in Clontarf Hospital.
Contribute to business planning and business cases.
Develop and maintain guidelines and protocols relating to the assigned service or rehabilitation stream Develop and implement strategies as part of the physiotherapy team for delivering effective care within a changing environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Be a lead clinician and carry a clinical caseload appropriate to the post Be responsible for patient assessment and the development and implementation of individualised treatment plans that are person-centred and in line with best practice Be responsible for goal setting in partnership with the patient, family and other team members as appropriate Be responsible for standards of practice of self and staff appointed to clinical/ designated area(s) Be a clinical resource for other physiotherapists Communicate and work in co-operation with the Physiotherapist Manager and other team members in providing an integrated quality service, taking the lead role as required Communicate effectively with and provide instruction, guidance and support to staff, patients, family, carers etc.
Document patient records in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies Provide a service in varied locations in line with local policy / guidelines and within appropriate time allocation (e.g. inpatient units, home visits, etc) Participate and be a lead clinician as appropriate in review meetings, case conferences etc.
Develop and promote professional standards of practice Work within own scope of professional competence in line with principles of best practice, professional conduct and clinical governance Seek advice of relevant personnel when appropriate / as required Operate within the scope of practice of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and CORU code of professional conduct.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIC TO THE POST At minimum three years satisfactory post qualification experience, including at least 12 months experience in Neurology and Older Person rehabilitation.
Experience in Amputee rehabilitation desirable.
Evidence of relevant post- graduation education/ courses is essential.
Membership of a relevant clinical interest group is desirable.
The post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post, which may be assigned to him/her from time to time, and to contribute to the development of the post while in office.
