Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
* Works independently on technical activities without direct supervision.
* Conducts technical searches and analyzes information in support of the project team.
* Demonstrates responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives or problems where the relationships between cause and effect are difficult to establish and little or no precedence exists, requiring creative and imaginative thinking.
* Applies technical expertise and has full knowledge of related disciplines.
* Develops technical solutions to complex problems, requiring ingenuity and creativity.
Leads research initiatives in electromagnetics transient phenomena, focusing on renewables such as wind and solar energy systems.
Oversees the development of innovative HVDC inverter technologies to enhance low-energy system performance.
Additional Requirements:
* Develops relationships with primary advisors in research areas.
* Assists EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International.
* Communicates strategies and results to program members, potential members, and external stakeholders through reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops, and conferences.
* Ensures communication across EPRI programs to keep parallel work informed.
* May oversee project teams to meet technical and financial milestones.
* Organizes external and interdepartmental activities to ensure project completion on schedule and within budget.
* Supports planning and execution of complex technical projects, including preparing research reports.
* Manages small to medium projects, including budgets and resources.
* Interfaces with national and international technical networks (manufacturers, consultants, academia, research organizations).
* Supports proposal efforts and promotional activities.
* Develops research or service opportunities aligned with EPRI’s mission and capabilities.
* Provides guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.
EPRI complies with export control regulations, including ITAR, Part 810, and EAR. It is essential that the successful candidate can work with export-controlled technology/information without further government authorization.
