The efficient running of these services is made possible by our teams of highly skilled healthcare professionals.What will you do: Responsibilities:Clinical FocusThe successful candidate will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing a patient centred quality and seamless service. The clinical practice role may be divided into direct and indirect care. As part of the multi-disciplinary team the successful candidate will provide effective, team-based care for children years of age. The purpose of this CNS post is to deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role as defined by the National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery The CNS is a registered nurse who has extensive experience and clinical expertise in the area of paediatric ADHD. The role will encompass a major clinical focus (direct & indirect) comprising of assessment, planning and delivery of patient care that is done in collaboration with the medical and other healthcare professionals. The CNS will have the expertise and specialist knowledge to incorporate clinical skills into practice in line with policies and guidelines.Direct CareProvide a specialist nurse service for children and adolescents attending the Paediatric ADHD Services in Vhi under the governance structure in place within the Service.Communicate results and recommendations to the patient, family and/or carer as appropriate.Collaborate with service user, family, carers and other staff in treatment planning.Co-ordinate patient follow-up.Maintain documentation in accordance with department and professional standards.Participate in medication reconciliation including medication reviews and medication management with appropriate governance.Participate as a full member of the MDT.Indirect CareIn conjunction with the local management team & MDT, contribute to the development and implementation of procedures, policies and guidelines while adhering to existing standards and protocols.Patient/Client AdvocateSupport patients and parents/carers in adequately understanding their child's condition and proposed treatment plan as appropriate.Education & TrainingMaintain clinical competence and keeping up to date with relevant research to ensure the implementation of evidence-based practice within the specialist area.Participate in learning opportunities within the MDT in relation to evidence-based child and adolescent ADHD care delivery.Participate in training programmes for nursing, MDT colleagues and key stakeholders as appropriate.Attending and actively contributing to relevant clinical, professional and service meetings.Audit Participate in audit relevant to the area of practice. What you need to be successful Education & ExperienceBe registered in the Psychiatric Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.5 years post registration experience of which a minimum is 2 years in the specialty.Formal recognised post-registration education relevant to the area, at level 8 (higher diploma) according to the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) National Candidates without the relevant post-graduate level 8 specialist course will be appointed as Clinical Nurse Manager II initially but must agree to complete within an agreed timeframe. Demonstrate clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based practice appropriate to carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the role in line with relevant legislation and standards. Can practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice. Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.Interpersonal skillsDemonstrate an ability to manage and develop self and others in a busy working environment. Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, collaborates well with others.Flexibility to work evenings / weekends if/as required by the role.
