Echelon Data Centres was established in **** by the main principal of Aldgate Developments, a leading commercial property developer and owner of major commercial office buildings in Central London and Dublin.
The objective was developing, operating, and owning a network of large-scale, responsibly designed, sustainably powered data centre campuses across the world to meet the rapidly expanding global demand for hyperscale data processing and storage solutions.
Echelon currently has seven data centre facilities either operational or in development across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Spain, with a combined capacity of approximately 1.25GW.
The recent acquisition of a prime 37-acre site in Italy marks the next step of Echelon's expansion into Continental Europe.
The Role
The Lead Project Manager –Power & Data Infrastructure will be responsible for managing and coordinating the delivery of Development Works, specifically overseeing the execution of high-voltage substation projects (110kV/220kV).
This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and proven experience in project managing similar large-scale electrical infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the delivery of the Power & Infrastructure Development Works in accordance with the Project Execution Plan and requirements.
Compile and submit a monthly progress report to the Management Committee in line with the agreed schedule.
Attend Management Committee meetings to provide updates and insights.
Exercise authority to make day-to-day decisions on behalf of LDR regarding Development Works, as required.
Collaborate with FDR and other stakeholders to agree and maintain the Project Execution Plan.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, contractual, and safety requirements.
Devote sufficient time and resources to guarantee successful project outcomes.
Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring effective communication and coordination across all disciplines.
Ensure all objectives are achieved within scope, time, and budget.
Qualifications
Proven experience in project management of 110kV/220kV substation projects or similar large-scale electrical infrastructure developments.
Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, grid connections, and associated civil works.
Project controls design and proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and contractual obligations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Experience working in a comparable environment, or with a client or contractor organisation is highly desirable.
Management of information analysis, presentation, and requirements.
Reporting tools and applications.
Microsoft tools (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).
Business Intelligence (BI) tools – we are currently using MS Power BI.
Cost management systems, financial management.
Delivering and/or contributing to continuous improvement programs.
Presenting complex technical information to senior management.
Ability to work on own initiative to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to lead and direct resources, some or most of whom are not within direct reporting lines, towards achieving the objectives of the role.
Ability to negotiate and manage external & internal parties, both in terms of their requirements, expectations & delivery.
Sound judgment and the ability to interpret and respond to nuanced stakeholder communications effectively.
A keen eye for detail and ability to identify, interrogate, clarify and communicate key points for review within the reporting suite.
