Senior Occupational Therapist – Mental Health
Job Description
The role of the Senior Occupational Therapist in our Mental Health team is to provide a comprehensive occupational therapy service to patients attending the Department of Mental Health. As part of the Integrated Therapy Support (ITS) Team, you will operate out-patient HSCP supports to children under the care of a hospital consultant experiencing psychological/mental health issues. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including Psychology, Mental Health Social Work, Psychiatry, and Nursing colleagues to provide therapeutic services and advocate for the discipline of OT in the design of future mental health models.
You will be responsible for supporting the development of mental health occupational therapy services and implementing innovative approaches to develop in-patient and out-patient OT services. Additionally, you will work within the Occupational Therapy department as directed by the OT Manager and support cross-cover into acute medical areas as required.
Skills and Attributes
To succeed in this role, you will need to be registered as an Occupational Therapist with CORU and have recent and satisfactory experience within the field of mental health. A minimum of 3 years post-qualification clinical Occupational Therapy experience is also required. You must be able to link with multiple medical, surgical, and clinical services across the healthcare system and advocate for the discipline of OT.
