This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Job Description
Coláiste na Ríochta (a Post Primary School Upper Church Street, Listowel, Co. Kerry, V31 WD34) is committed to your growth and development. As part of this experience programme where no experience is required, you will receive mentoring and hands‑on training, giving you the opportunity to develop valuable office administration and customer service skills in a professional environment. You will always be working as part of a team that will be there to offer any support needed and provide training in the following:
Greet and welcome the public, learners and staff, ensuring a positive first impression, be courteous at all times.
Manage phone calls, emails and correspondence with professionalism and courtesy.
Assist with maintenance and organisation of office documentation, both physical and digital.
Support the team with data entry, reporting and general administrative tasks such as manual and electronic filing, photocopying, answering/making telephone calls and dealing with e‑mails.
Assist in the drafting and issuing of letters, memos and general information to the public, learners and staff.
Assist with the processing of incoming and outgoing post.
Assist when ordering office supplies.
Use Information Technology such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, e‑mail and internet.
Ensure all information received within Coláiste na Ríochta remains confidential.
Perform general administrative tasks.
Comply with Kerry Education and Training Board (Kerry ETB) Policies and Procedures.
Applicants should be prepared to complete a Garda Vetting Application Form and will be required to be Garda Vetted. They should also successfully complete a Tusla Children First, ‘Introduction to Children First’ Elearning Programme.
Training
Formal Training: WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, Tusla Children First, ‘Introduction to Children First’ Elearning Programme, IT packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
Informal Training: Customer Service Skills, Communications.
On‑the‑job training: learning through daily tasks and responsibilities, guided by more experienced colleagues.
Mentorship: guidance from a mentor within the organisation.
