Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position: ******* Neonatal Transport Fellowship (2 posts) July **** - July **** Applications are invited for a Neonatal Transport Fellowship position in The Rotunda Hospital, the National Maternity Hospital and The Coombe Hospital, Dublin.
The successful candidate will participate in The entire NNTP process from call taking, transport planning and clinical care during transport, with consultant supervision.
Audit activities.
Education activities specific to transport as well as neonatology as offered by Rotunda, National Maternity Hospital or Coombe teaching program.
Clinical duties in NICU in a supernumerary capacity.
Teaching activities within the transport programme, including outreach education in level one neonatal units The successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake a research project with supported time.
Essential criteria for shortlisting include: A minimum of 12 months' experience in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or higher as a paediatric trainee.
Previous neonatal critical care transport experience .
A high degree of competence in NICU procedures, including endotracheal intubation, cannulation of umbilical vessels and peripheral veins and arteries, and emergency drainage of pneumothoraxes.
Ability to demonstrate independent expertise in the assessment and management of critically ill babies, including expert resuscitation skills.
Good understanding of transport specific equipment.
Successful completion of MRCPI examinations or equivalent.
Familiarity with the Irish health care structure is highly desirable.
Overview of the position Position is tenable from July **** to July **** .
The key area of responsibility is to provide medical care during primary neonatal retrievals.
The fellow's working schedule will be EWTD compliant and is relatively flexible.
Position is currently not accredited for training by the RCPI; however, NNTP seeks this accreditation in the view of proposed Irish Neonatal-Perinatal training scheme.
This post is generally suitable as a standalone post outside of an HMT scheme.
Salary is in accordance with current HSE pay scales for registrars.
Rosters conform to the principles of safe working hours.
There will be a requirement for on-call duty.
Nights and weekends on duty for NNTP are currently non-resident (provided the post-holder resides within 30 minutes of base).
