This Work Placement Experience Programme provides participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. The programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Job Description
The clinic assistant supports the dental practitioner in administrative tasks under supervision and following the orders of the dental practitioner. The clinic assistant will gain practical experience in supporting the dentist through practice and hygiene standards. They will also learn administrative tasks that are part of every surgery. They will assist with maintaining impeccable standards of hygiene and cross‑infection control, according to the latest guidelines and following practice procedures and policy. They will assist with preparing instrument trays for procedures. They will assist with following all practice procedures and protocols to maintain patient confidentiality. They will ensure that all the relevant paperwork is completed promptly and accurately and that all client records are updated and maintained, according to practice procedures. They will monitor stock levels for materials and sundries and order or liaise with the lead nurse on ordering. They will assist with the coordination with the laboratory on timely dispatch and receipt of work. They will assist in manning the reception as the business necessitates, providing a customer‑focused and seamless patient journey according to the practice’s brand standards that assists in recruiting and retaining patients.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector‑recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.
