We are looking for a kind and caring Health Care Assistant to join our team to enhance and support the excellent quality of daily life for our residents.
Main responsibilities
Deliver quality care to each resident.
Assist residents with intimate personal care, eating and drinking, and mobilising.
Promote and encourage a normal nutritional diet.
Assist with diversional therapy such as activities and movement to music.
Assist nursing staff with all resident care and care of the dying.
Familiarise with infection control.
Report any changes in residents' condition to the senior nurse on duty.
Ensure residents' sleep patterns are not disrupted by excessive noise or bright lights at night.
Document records required during duty.
Health & Safety
Close supervision day and night is vital for the safety and well‑being of highly dependent residents. Be aware of health and safety policies, report faulty equipment (lifting hoists, bath hoists, etc.), use transfer slide sheets and handling belts, use hoists only with a second staff member present, and understand policies on evacuation and fire.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Have FETAC Level 5 and/or other relevant training.
Previous experience caring for the elderly, preferably in a residential setting.
Adopt a person‑centred approach to care planning.
Experience working in a team setting.
Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Genuine interest in caring for older people.
Positive attitude and openness to changing needs within Nazareth Care Ireland.
Participate in care planning with nursing and other staff.
Proficient in manual handling and patient moving skills.
