Founding Software Engineer Location: Dublin City Centre - Work from Home Fridays Compensation: €120,000 - €140,000 + meaningful equity I'm working with one of the most exciting early-stage AI companies currently being built in Ireland. They've raised over $3m in pre-seed funding from some of the strongest investors in the market and are already live with customers across the UK and Ireland. The product is solving a very real operational problem within healthcare using autonomous AI agents, with huge traction already building across large clinic groups. This is not a \"build a demo and hope\" type startup. The product is already in market. Customers are actively using it. Momentum is real. They're now hiring a Founding Engineer to help scale the platform and shape the future of the business alongside the founders. The Opportunity You'll be joining as one of the first non-founder engineers in the company, working directly with the founders to build the core product and engineering culture from the ground up. The environment is fast-moving, highly collaborative, and deeply product-focused. You'll have real ownership from day one: designing systems shipping features speaking with customers solving real-world problems helping shape technical direction building production AI systems used by real people This is not a company looking for someone to maintain legacy systems or operate within heavy process. They want builders. People who enjoy ambiguity. People who like creating from scratch. People who want to own things end-to-end. What You'll Be Working On Building core backend systems powering autonomous AI agents Designing APIs, workflows, orchestration layers, and integrations Expanding product capabilities across voice, messaging, scheduling, and healthcare workflows Improving performance, reliability, observability, and scalability Working closely with customers to rapidly iterate and improve product behaviour Helping shape engineering standards, architecture, and technical direction as the company scales The stack today is heavily backend-focused with Python, FastAPI, AWS and modern AI tooling, but they care far more about strong product engineers than someone tied to one language. Strong engineers from Node.js, TypeScript, Go, Java, Scala or similar backgrounds are all relevant if you've been building real products and shipping production systems. What They're Looking For The strongest candidates will likely have: Experience working in startups, scale-ups, or high-ownership product environments A strong builder mentality Evidence of owning features or systems end-to-end A product-focused mindset rather than purely infrastructure/support work Strong backend engineering fundamentals Curiosity around AI-native products and modern tooling The ability to move quickly without needing heavy structure or constant direction Bonus points if you've: Built side projects Founded something previously Worked in highly ambiguous environments Been part of an early engineering team before What's On Offer Up to €140,000 base salary Meaningful equity in the business Work directly with founders and influence the product from day one Friday work from home flexibility Real ownership and autonomy Opportunity to help shape engineering culture at the earliest stage Massive learning and growth opportunity as the company scales Cutting-edge AI product work with real-world impact Important to Know This is primarily an on-site role in Dublin. The founders strongly believe the best early-stage companies are built together in person, especially during the early growth phase. This role will suit someone who genuinely wants to be in the room building alongside the team every day. If you're looking for a highly structured environment, slower pace, or a fully remote role, this probably won't be the right fit. If you're excited by ownership, intensity, learning, and building something meaningful from the ground up, it could be a brilliant opportunity.
