Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Engineering Project Delivery team of a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Cork. This contract position is responsible for the execution of strategic, multi-disciplinary capital projects across a large-scale, GMP-regulated production environment.
You will lead and manage the full lifecycle of engineering projects—from initial scoping and capital approvals through to construction, commissioning, qualification, and handover. This is a dynamic, stakeholder-facing role within a high-performing cross-functional team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the safe and efficient delivery of capital engineering projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are consistently met.
* Develop project scopes, estimates, schedules, and obtain capital approvals.
* Manage project resources, risks, and stakeholder communications.
* Oversee design, procurement, construction, and C&Q (Commissioning & Qualification) activities.
* Drive compliance with GMP, GDP, and Change Control procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
* Coordinate across internal teams (Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Validation, MSAT, etc.) and third-party contractors/suppliers.
* Lead project meetings and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.
* Conduct post-project reviews to identify performance metrics and lessons learned.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and collaboration across teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Degree-qualified in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
* Minimum 8 years of industry experience, including at least 3 years in pharmaceuticals or medical devices, and 3 years in a project management role.
* Strong communicator with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
* Demonstrated experience delivering projects in GMP-regulated environments.
Desirable Skills
* API or pharmaceutical manufacturing background
* Qualification or certification in Project Management
* Familiarity with SAP, LIMS, and business systems
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
* Training in Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, or other problem-solving methodologies
* Experience working within a global or multinational engineering team

This role operates within a regulated EHS environment. The Project Manager is expected to:

* Attend relevant EHS training and promote a safety-first culture
* Ensure use of PPE and equipment in accordance with site policy
* Report incidents, hazards, or near misses as per protocol
