Radiation Therapist Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Radiation Therapist to join our radiology team as an integral part of our staff.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a caring atmosphere for patients, visitors, medical staff, and colleagues on a consistent basis.
2. Deliver radiation treatment according to written prescription and treatment plan, ensuring patient safety through consistent practice of departmental procedures.
3. Ensure quality treatment delivery through complete and accurate documentation of treatment records.
4. Verify the quality and consistency of treatment portal placement by reviewing electronic portal images according to departmental procedures, adjusting treatment fields as indicated.
5. Explain treatment procedures to patients and/or families, referring medical questions to appropriate personnel.
6. Under the direction of a radiation oncologist, take localization radiographs according to planned treatment delivery, assist in administration of contrast agents, and perform measurements for treatment calculation.
7. Collect and document data acquired during simulation procedures, accurately inputting treatment-related data into the verify-and-record system.
8. Assist in orientation and supervision of students during clinical rotations, evaluate student performance with the clinical specialist/chief therapist.
9. Participate in all treatment-related procedures as needed.
10. Use effective communication techniques and interpersonal skills to explain treatment procedures, respond to patient concerns, and observe patients for expected and unexpected reactions to treatments.
11. Perform and document daily and weekly QA activity for assigned equipment, notifying the clinical specialist/chief therapist of findings outside the normal range of operations.
12. Attend multidisciplinary team meetings for coordination of patient care.
13. Complete the daily treatment schedule, maintaining accurate records of procedures, including billing information and codes.
14. Maintain a safe and orderly treatment room.
15. Provide on-call coverage for emergency situations.
16. Collaborate with the Lead RT and clinical specialists to ensure smooth operation of treatment units and PET CT unit.
17. Foster dynamic growth by developing new technologies and machines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Completion of a formal radiation therapy technology program in an Irish/EU/AMA-approved institution.
* CORU registration required.
* Senior post – at least 3 years relevant and appropriate post graduate radiotherapy experience.
