Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) are recruiting for: Social Care Worker
Purpose of Post: The position requires a high degree of understanding and commitment to the residents and to Camphill Communities of Ireland. The welfare and wellbeing of residents comes first. Confidentiality with regard to residents and staff is essential. The Social Care Worker must be able to work with people with intellectual disabilities and believe that every person has the right to live and participate in the community equally. The role, in cooperation with the Shift Lead and the Person In Charge, is responsible for the overall growth and direction of the residents within the ethos of CCoI. The successful candidate should be highly responsible, reliable, competent in household management, and capable of creating and maintaining a homely and supportive environment. They should be mature enough to resolve conflicts and empower people with divergent points of view. Flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to lead and participate in service provision are required. The post entails modeling a professional attitude, conduct, practice and leadership to carry out the duties outlined hereafter.
Responsibilities
1. Advocacy & Rights: Respect each person using the services as an equal citizen; uphold human, legal and constitutional rights; facilitate self-advocacy and involvement in advocacy; enable participation in hobbies and community life; develop self-help and social skills; promote community integration.
2. Person Centred Support for Living: Ensure a person-centred approach; support individuals in areas including occupation and leisure, communication, behaviour support plans, independent living skills, social integration, personal care and personal development; act as Key Worker for specific individuals; develop and implement person-centred plans in consultation with the individual; coordinate medical appointments; support healthy, nutritious diets; plan and implement training, leisure, social and personal activities; facilitate community participation.
3. Direct Support and Personal Care: Provide physical and personal support (moving and handling, infection control, mobility, dressing, bathing, toileting, eating, skin care, health promotion); assist with daily living activities and personal hygiene; support participation in recreational and leisure activities; liaise with workshops for house-to-work transitions; be involved in transport duties as required; support personal finances in line with policy; assist with cooking and meal preparation; support religious and pastoral needs; administer prescribed medications and maintain records; ensure household operations align with person-centred and value-based practices; maintain home environments and clothing/linen care.
4. Management and Leadership: Adhere to legislative, CCoI policies, Health & Safety Act and HIQA standards; maintain accurate records; manage reports, timesheets and financial statements; ensure team coverage and staff induction/training; contribute to a high-quality, client-centered service; oversee transport needs and supervise students as required.
5. Money and Budgets: Manage petty cash and individuals’ monies; maintain a petty cash float; ensure prudent use of goods and services; assist with budget preparation and monitoring; manage house accounts and monthly reporting.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of Level 7 QQI Framework (e.g., BA in Social Care Studies) or an equivalent qualification in Health or Social Care. CORU registration or proof of application in progress is required. At least 1 year of experience with vulnerable adults or individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred. An understanding of national and sectoral policy developments in Social Care within disability services is desirable. Ability to follow, evaluate and contribute to plans and methods to meet ongoing needs; strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written); proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams); a full driving licence and access to a car are essential.

Details of the Role
Salary Scale: €36,379 - €52,445 per annum (40 hours/week). Location: Dublin South – Stillorgan, A94 F5D8. Duration: Multiple positions - Permanent Full time/40 hours.
