Position Overview
CIFF welcomes expressions of interest to join its Board in 2026. The Board Director (Trustee) is responsible for governance, strategic planning, financial oversight and policy development. Directors are not involved in programming or operational matters which are delegated to the Executive.
Responsibilities
Oversee strategic development and ensure alignment with the organisation’s vision, mission and values.
Engage in strategic planning and the setting of annual goals and priorities.
Provide high‑level oversight and support to the Executive.
Exercise financial oversight and maintain internal controls.
Support fundraising efforts through shared networks and expertise.
Commitment
Prepare for and attend approximately six board meetings per year plus the annual Board Strategy Away Day. Act as an ambassador for Cork International Film Festival in the community, encouraging wider engagement and support. Fully engage in the Festival and year‑round events.
Term of Office
Directors serve a term of three years and may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.
Qualifications
Senior‑level experience in the legal sector.
Experience in the film industry (domestic and international).
Business development or fundraising experience.
Representation in Cork business or civic organisations.
Experience in tourism or hospitality.
Previous not‑for‑profit board experience desirable.
