Role Summary:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all on-site logistics activities to support the efficient delivery of roofing and facade projects. This includes managing the scheduling and receipt of materials, controlling plant and equipment logistics, optimising site layouts for safe and effective storage, and maintaining clear communication with suppliers and project stakeholders. The role is critical to ensuring that site operations run smoothly, with minimal disruption or downtime caused by logistical delays. The Logistics Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, and Health & Safety personnel to ensure all logistical processes align with the construction programme and company standards.
Key Functions & Results Areas (Key Activities):
1. Logistics Planning and Coordination
* Develop and implement site-specific logistics plans for material and equipment flow.
* Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and the site team to schedule and manage deliveries.
* Create and maintain a logistics schedule aligned with the construction programme.
* Track all material and equipment movements to prevent delays or bottlenecks.
2. Material Delivery Management
* Approve and schedule all incoming material deliveries.
* Direct deliveries to designated zones using site maps and routing instructions.
* Ensure proper offloading procedures, checking materials against delivery dockets.
* Minimise site congestion through timed delivery slots and buffer stock planning.
3. Plant & Equipment Management
* Maintain a live plant schedule, tracking delivery and return dates.
* Ensure all plant machinery is certified and inspected before use.
* Coordinate regular equipment servicing and keep maintenance logs updated.
* Oversee equipment storage and maintain site-wide operability.
4. Site Layout & Material Storage
* Define and enforce designated storage zones, delivery areas, and traffic routes.
* Manage overflow material and off-site storage locations where required.
* Update site layout plans in collaboration with the Site Manager and Safety team.
5. Safety and Compliance
* Ensure logistics operations fully comply with site-specific safety protocols.
* Prevent material and plant movements through active work zones.
* Confirm all operators are certified and liaise with the H&S team on compliance.
6. Communication & Coordination
* Hold daily logistics briefings with site operatives and subcontractors.
* Maintain open communication with PMs, Supervisors, and subcontractors.
* Report logistics-related risks, issues, or non-conformances promptly.
7. Risk & Issue Management
* Identify risks such as equipment delays, storage limitations, or supplier problems.
* Mitigate issues through proactive planning and supplier coordination.
* Maintain contingency plans (e.g., buffer stock, alternate delivery routes).
8. Project Close-Out
* Manage return of all plant and equipment to suppliers.
* Coordinate removal or handover of remaining materials per project policy.
* Support demobilisation activities and prepare final material inventory documentation.
Person Specification:
* 3–5 years’ experience in a logistics or site coordination role in construction, preferably façade or roofing/cladding environments.
* Strong organisational and planning skills.
* Practical understanding of construction site operations and material handling.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination ability.
* Proven track record in managing deliveries, plant equipment, and site layouts.
* Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates (or equivalent).
* Willingness to travel and work across multiple project sites in Ireland and Europe.
