Ayrton Group are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join our client, a construction services group, on a new-build project based in Carrigtwohill Co. Cork.
The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for advising on overall compliance in matters of Health & Safety in accordance with client policies and relevant statutory provisions. The HSO must lead by example and serve as a role model in mobilising the team and ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety are adopted on-site.
This is an initial 18-month contract role with the potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct regular, formal site audits and inspections as directed in the Safety Management System.
* Maintain records of statutory inspections for all activities and plant equipment.
* Advise and instruct on safety-related topics such as noise levels and machinery use.
* Assist Site Management in drafting and communicating Method Statements.
* Review and update existing policies according to legislation.
* Inspect premises and personnel work to identify issues or non-conformities (e.g., not using protective equipment).
* Report incidents and near misses, follow up with root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
* Review subcontractor Safety Statements and Safety Compliance.
* Review Safe Work Plans for on-site tasks.
* Manage Health & Safety documentation on-site.
* Recommend and manage PPE for on-site employees.
* Deliver Health & Safety induction programmes for new employees and contractors.
* Conduct Toolbox Talks as required.
Key Requirements:
* Qualification in Health and Safety.
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in an on-site Safety role preferred.
* Construction experience required.
* Safe Pass and Manual Handling certifications required.
* Ability to work independently and innovatively.
* Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* Legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
