Derry Duff Organics is a pioneering regenerative and organic farm situated in a beautiful remote location in the mountains above Bantry Bay, West Cork.
We specialise in blueberries, aronia berries, tree propagation and Dexter cattle, working at the forefront of organic fruit production and ecosystem restoration in Ireland.
Our work combines hands-on horticulture with ecological stewardship, innovation, and continuous research and learning.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible Farm Assistant to join our small, dedicated team.
For those who show aptitude, reliability, and dedication, there is potential for career progression into a Farm Manager role, with increasing responsibility in crop planning, regenerative systems, operations management, sales and marketing.
This is a live-in role, ideal for someone who wants to spend time in a beautiful rural location, values working outdoors, learning practical organic techniques, and being part of an innovative food and ecological project.
The farm is very remote, 25 minutes from Bantry town and so having own transport is strongly recommended.
Key Responsibilities
· Mulching, weeding, and general care of our blueberry and aronia plantations
· Tree nursery care, including, weeding, fertilizing, potting, watering, and transplanting
· Tree Planting
· Feeding animals
· Greenhouse work – planting, propagation, and harvesting crops
· Fertilising and soil health management using organic inputs
· Installing and maintaining bird deterrents and trellising structures
· Supporting regenerative practices such as mulching, composting, and biodiversity enhancement
· Fencing
· General maintenance on day-to-day farm operations
Training & Mentorship
You'll receive hands-on mentoring and training in:
· Organic and regenerative production systems
· Soil microbiome management and nutrient cycling
· Polyphenol-rich crop cultivation (blueberries & aronia)
· Sustainable farm design and biodiversity management
· Fencing and farm maintenance
· Basic mechanics

Candidate Profile
· Must be eligible to work in Ireland
· Enthusiastic, reliable, hardworking and happy working outdoors in all weathers
· Practical, observant, and willing to learn
· Organised and tidy, used to keeping tools, workshops tidy and organised and the environment clean.
· Experience in horticulture or farming is welcome but not essential — training provided
· A full driving licence an advantage and own transport recommended as we are remote
· Holding Teagasc Farm Safety qualification, QQI Farm Safety & Assurance, or FRS farm safety credentials is an advantage
· Certifications in tractor driving, machinery handling, Chainsaw / strimmer safety, Digger / loader operation, ATV / quad safety are an advantage
· Carpentry skills an advantage.

Pay and conditions:
Salary based on experience and certifications, and includes accommodation, some food from the farm and bills.
The role includes 20 days paid holiday per year and public holidays in line with Irish employment law.
Mentoring, skill development, and opportunity for longer-term progression.
Immersive experience in regenerative, organic farming within a supportive environment.
