Clinical Nurse Manager
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) to join our team at Anovocare Nursing Home, ideally located minutes from Dublin Airport. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role within a modern, supportive, and resident-focused nursing home environment.
Purpose of the Role
The Clinical Nurse Manager supports the Director of Nursing in ensuring compliance with HIQA Standards, assists in the induction, mentoring, and supervision of nursing and care staff, monitors safety and quality of care, and contributes to ongoing training and practice development.
Responsibilities
Management and Leadership
Support the Director of Nursing in managing the nursing home.
Serve as a role model for registered nurses and care assistants, monitoring competence through observations and formal competency assessments.
Provide mentoring and coaching to nursing and care staff; act as daily support for clinical teams.
Professional and Clinical Care
Promote a person‑centred approach to assessment, planning, evaluation, and delivery of care.
Coordinate daily care for residents based on individual needs.
Support nurses on evidence‑based evaluation and training.
Attend governance and staff meetings as required by the Director of Nursing.
Quality Assurance Management
Participate fully as a member of the governance committee.
Conduct audits in accordance with the annual review report and audit plan.
Monitor quality and safety through observations, spot checks, audits, and discussions with residents, relatives, and advocates.
Reinforce compliance with Trinity Care policies and provide daily feedback to staff.
Assist with collating quality and safety data for the governance committee and implementing policy updates.
Risk Management
Implement risk management initiatives developed by the governance committee.
Monitor environmental hazards and staff compliance with health and safety and infection control.
Audit incidents, accidents, near misses, and medication errors; ensure follow‑up actions are documented.
Liaise daily with nurses to monitor residents, especially those requiring additional surveillance.
Education, Training, and Practice Development
Attend, facilitate, and coordinate mandatory and non‑mandatory in‑service education programmes.
Participate in continuing professional development activities.
Provide induction training to new clinical staff in collaboration with HR.
Report concerns regarding knowledge and competency deficits to inform staff education and training plans.
Qualifications and Experience
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
Preferably hold a post‑registration qualification in nursing management and/or nursing older people.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a nursing home setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of HIQA Standards and their application to the CNM role.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of national standards and regulations for residential care services for older people, professional codes, auditing, risk management, and health and safety.
Management and leadership skills; effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Planning, organisational, and prioritisation abilities, including handling unforeseen circumstances.
Motivation of self and others; conflict management skills.
Capacity to manage the nursing home in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
