Aughinish Alumina, situated on a 1,300 acre site on the Shannon Estuary, is one of the leading industrial plants in Ireland. It is the largest Alumina Refinery in Europe, producing alumina product that is the primary raw material of aluminium. The company also has a Combined Heat & Power Plant. Aughinish Alumina has a history of continuous improvement and innovation and is considered to be a world leader in the industry.Aughinish Alumina is recruiting the following First Year Apprentices to start inAutumn 2026:Mechanical, Automation and Maintenance Fitting Apprenticeship (MAMF)Electrical Instrumentation Apprenticeship (E/I)Each apprenticeship is for a period of four years (or for a period determined by the Standards Based Apprenticeship Scheme).Those appointed will receive full training in their craft both onsite (in Aughinish) and in College (various locations).*Requirements:*Candidates must be 17 years of age by 31st August 2026.To join any MAMF or EI Apprentice programme, SOLAS require that applicants pass the Ishihara Colour Vision Test 24 plate edition.*Minimum Qualifications:*Grade D1/H5/O5 in five subjects in the Established Leaving Certificate examination must include Maths and EnglishPersons already serving an Apprenticeship are not eligiblePersons sitting their Leaving Certificate in 2026 are eligible.
