In executing the role it is paramount that Health & Safety, Ethical and Quality requirements, both legislative and company-specific, are fully respected and taken account of.*Duties of the Role include;*Perform a variety of basic and advanced chemical, biological and bacteriological tests on wastewater, solids and soils for facility assigned including chloride, conductivity, alkalinity, pH, temperature, total hardness, turbidity, chlorine residual, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, solidsCarry out laboratory sampling and analysisInvolvement in process optimisationPrepare timely and accurate reporting of activities to managementLiaise and interact with the Plant Manager, O&M operatives and client Collect samples of wastewater, sludge, receiving water and processing waste in accordance with established laboratory procedures for analysis;Prepare glassware and equipment for laboratory use and perform lab housekeeping dutiesPerform mathematical calculations and statistical analysis of test resultsInvolvement in process commissioningProvision of coaching and support to Operation Technicians to improve their process knowledge and problem solving skillsPrepare and produce the MSR monthly reportsOperate, maintain and perform routine calibrations on test equipmentResponsible for safe and documented disposal of spent laboratory chemicals*Required skills for this role;*Diploma/ Degree in Chemical / Environmental Engineering or relevant higher level degreeKnowledge of utilities and waste water treatment plant maintenancePrevious experience (1-3 years) in industrial process operations would be a distinct advantageFamiliarity with standard laboratory proceduresGood understanding of quality, environmental and safety management systemsAwareness and understanding of the regulatory aspects within the waste water industryPlease note:If you are an EU/EEA national, you will be asked to show proof of right to work in Ireland.If you are a non-EU/EEA national, you will require current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland.Information on legislation and guides to the procedures in relation to obtaining greencard permits ,work permits, spousal/dependant permits is available on the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation website.Here at Veolia, we're proud to be known as an equal opportunities employer.
