Sales Manager – Overland Ireland Tours

Location: Galway

Reports to: General Manager

Company: Overland Ireland Tours

Who are we?

Overland Ireland is a dynamic, family-run small group tour operator offering unique and authentic travel experiences across Ireland. Established in 2014, the company has evolved from a love of adventure and discovery into one of Ireland's most trusted and fast-growing tour brands.

We pride ourselves on our personal touch, exceptional service and expertly designed itineraries that showcase the very best of Ireland's culture, landscapes and spirit.

Right now is an incredibly exciting time to join our team. Overland Ireland is in a strong growth phase, expanding into Europe with the upcoming launch of our first Portugal tour, alongside a series of new niche Irish experiences that will redefine small-group travel in Ireland.

This is your chance to be part of an ambitious, forward-thinking company that is growing fast, full of energy and passionate about creating unforgettable journeys.

What is the role?

The Sales Manager will be a driven and passionate travel professional with a strong track record in sales and business development. Experience in the North American and Australian markets is a distinct advantage.

You will lead our sales strategy, manage key relationships and ensure every guest enjoys a seamless journey, from first enquiry to final farewell. This is a hands-on role that combines strategic thinking with action: managing the CRM and sales pipeline, mentoring the team, building strong supplier and guide relationships and working closely with operations to deliver exceptional guest care.

It is an exciting opportunity to drive revenue, grow partnerships and help shape the next chapter of Overland Ireland's expansion.

What are the key responsibilities?

Sales & business development

* Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve company growth targets.
* Oversee all sales activities for our scheduled tours, including managing third-party booking platforms and OTAs, handling customer enquiries and ensuring timely follow-ups and engagement.
* Prepare tailored sales itineraries for private and self-drive tours, ensuring timely follow-ups, accurate cost analysis, strong conversion rates and achievement of revenue targets.
* Oversee accommodation, activity and car hire bookings as part of the sales process.
* Lead business development efforts across North America, Australia, New Zealand and key European markets, actively seeking out new agents, partnerships and growth opportunities.
* When required, represent Overland Ireland at trade shows, industry events and networking opportunities, while conducting sales and marketing activities both in Ireland and overseas including trade missions, site inspections, familiarisation trips and client meetings.
* Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and coordinate the development of sales proposals.
* Develop costing models and pricing for confirmed programmes, securing supplier services and negotiating rates where appropriate.
* Maintain and build rapport with customers, suppliers, transport partners and guides to ensure long-term, trust-based relationships.

CRM & lead management

* Manage all incoming leads and email enquiries, ensuring timely and professional responses.
* Maintain accurate and detailed CRM records, including new accounts, meeting notes and opportunity tracking.
* Monitor the sales funnel to ensure all prospects are followed up on and no lead is left unattended.
* Analyse conversion rates, identify trends and make data-driven recommendations.

Team development & leadership

* Mentor, train and coach team members to achieve both individual and collective goals.
* Contribute to a range of projects across the business as needed, assisting with proposals, costings and client communications to support overall company goals.
* Ensure sales targets and KPIs are met through consistent motivation, guidance and accountability.
* Assist in implementing operational and sales strategies to streamline workflow and enhance team efficiency.
* Supervise and support any staff or trainees assigned to the sales department.

Guest experience & customer care

* Oversee the end-to-end guest journey to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
* Review guest and guide feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
* Deal with customer complaints promptly and professionally, finding solutions that reflect the company's commitment to care.
* Oversee all guest communications before and after each tour, ensuring emails, itineraries, and app details are accurate, clear and delivered on time.
* Work closely with the operations team, transport manager and guides to ensure smooth communication and high standards of service delivery.

Reporting & analysis

* Maintain clear and accurate reporting of sales outcomes and activities measured against the sales plan.
* Provide regular performance updates and market analysis to the General Manager.
* Track key performance indicators, guest feedback and market data to refine future strategies.

Marketing & brand support

* Support marketing initiatives, including managing social media accounts, producing content for newsletters and ezines and contributing to website development.
* Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns that align with sales goals.
* Promote Overland Ireland's environmental and responsible tourism initiatives.

General Duties

* Undertake general office administration as required.
* Evening and weekend work may occasionally be necessary for trade events or client functions.
* While the role is primarily office-based as the position involves managing international markets remotely, occasional international travel may be required to support our global partnerships, attend trade events and represent Overland Ireland in line with the company's business travel policy.
* Any other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Company Director.

What we require for this role:

* Travel perks, including the opportunity to experience our tours first-hand.
* A collaborative, supportive, passionate work environment with real opportunities for growth.
* The chance to join a fast-growing Irish-owned company at a pivotal time in its development.

At Overland Ireland, you will be part of a passionate, ambitious team that's redefining small-group travel in Ireland and beyond. You will have the freedom to innovate, build strong international relationships and help shape the next exciting chapter of our growth.
