Financial Accountant
About the Company
An established Irish distribution, wholesale and vendor services business with a nationwide customer base of over 800 is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its growing finance team. The business operates across multiple channels and is continuing to expand its commercial footprint.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, the Financial Accountant will take ownership of core accounting functions while also contributing to commercial and strategic finance projects. This is a hands-on role offering broad exposure across all aspects of finance within a dynamic and fast-paced organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and insightful commentary
* Oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily processing
* Management of payroll processes in coordination with external payroll providers
* Preparation and submission of bi-monthly VAT returns
* Development of budgets, forecasts, and detailed cashflow reports
* Support in the preparation of statutory accounts and liaison with external auditors during year-end
* Identification and implementation of process improvements, system enhancements, and strengthened internal controls
* Provision of financial analysis and insights to support informed business decision-making
* Participation in ad-hoc finance and commercial projects as the business continues to grow
* Effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
Skills & Attributes
* Strong attention to detail with sound judgement and logical decision-making ability
* Proactive, hands-on approach with a problem-solving mindset
* Proven capability to review, develop, and improve finance processes and procedures
* Highly organised, efficient, and able to manage competing priorities under pressure
* IT proficient, particularly in Microsoft Office applications; experience with ERP systems is advantageous (experience with Agility is beneficial but not essential)
Experience & Qualifications
* Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent), with up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in an accounting or finance role
* Previous experience in a Financial Accountant role is desirable
