As a Project Director at WSP in the PMCM Rail team, you will lead the delivery of large, complex rail projects or a programme of smaller projects of regional, national, and international significance. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
Our Project Directors are strategic thinkers and effective leaders who proactively manage requirements, budgets, schedules, and risks. They communicate a clear vision, solve problems effectively, and are willing to take on new challenges. They collaborate closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, utilizing WSP offices, client offices, and site locations to deliver projects of strategic importance.

Key Responsibilities
* Leadership: Lead and deliver large, complex projects or programmes, implement governance frameworks, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
* Client Liaison: Act as the principal contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met throughout the project lifecycle, and develop strong client relationships.
* Stakeholder Management: Engage with internal and external stakeholders at senior levels, including regulatory bodies and authorities, managing expectations effectively.
* Commercial & Risk Management: Manage contracts, budgets, and resources, and identify and mitigate key project risks.
* Safety & Compliance: Drive safety performance and ensure compliance with CDM regulations and environmental standards.
* Project Planning: Oversee governance, planning, controls, and reporting, monitoring progress and realigning strategies as needed.
* Innovation & Efficiency: Promote innovative solutions, evaluate new technologies, and drive continuous improvement for project efficiency and effectiveness.
Candidate Profile
* Degree in engineering or management-related discipline.
* Chartered status or nearing completion with a relevant professional body.
* Certifications such as APM, MSP, PMI, PRINCE2, or Six Sigma are advantageous.
* Experience managing large projects, client relationships, and project teams, especially in rail or related sectors.
* Strong leadership, strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and excellent communication skills.
* Experience with NEC 3/4 contracts is preferred.
