Quality Patient Safety Advisor – Healthcare
The Quality Patient Safety Advisor will support the Quality & Patient Safety (QPS) Manager in developing, implementing, and evaluating quality, safety, and risk-management programmes across IHA Dublin South West, Dublin South City & West, and Kildare/West Wicklow.
Lead initiatives that improve service quality, patient safety, incident management, and assurance processes.
This is a rolling contract position.
Key Responsibilities of Quality Patient Safety Advisor – Healthcare
Lead and oversee local quality and safety improvement initiatives.
Monitor and address underperformance in quality/safety areas.
Coordinate and support clinical audit activity.
Develop and deliver training related to quality, safety, and risk.
Analyse quality performance data and prepare reports.
Develop policies, procedures, and compliance supports.
Manage risk systems: risk assessments, risk registers, and reporting.
Oversee incident management including serious incident escalation and NIMS reporting.
Lead/participate in incident investigations and ensure follow-through on recommendations.
Maintain organisational learning and promote a systems approach to error prevention.
Support QPS committees, cross-divisional collaboration, and national/regional initiatives.
Represent QPS Manager as needed and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Ensure working knowledge of HIQA/MHC standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements of Quality Patient Safety Advisor – Healthcare
Level 6+ qualification in risk or healthcare quality
or
a healthcare professional qualification.
Significant healthcare experience involving quality/risk management.
Experience in leading change, training delivery, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
Suitable knowledge, skills, and management ability for the role.
