Lead the Way in Sustainable Design and Carbon Management
Are you ready to shape the future of low-carbon infrastructure and buildings? Join our Carbon Management Team and play a pivotal role in delivering sustainable solutions that make a real impact. We're looking for a senior-level professional with the technical expertise and passion to drive innovation across Ireland's most significant projects.

Purpose & Scope of the Role
This role sits at the heart of our sustainability mission. You'll work within an accredited PAS2080:2023 Carbon Management framework, supporting design teams to specify and deliver low-carbon materials and methods across all lifecycle stages of building and infrastructure projects. Day-to-day, you'll analyse designs using lifecycle assessment (LCA) tools, advise on material choices, and quantify carbon savings to ensure sustainability is embedded from concept to completion.

You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, collaborating with senior sustainability specialists and leveraging the resources of Tetra Tech RPS's extensive UK and Ireland network. This is an opportunity to work on nationally significant projects in transport, water, energy, and the built environment, while contributing to the climate transformation of these sectors.

Your Impact in This Position
In the short term, you'll support carbon lifecycle assessments and sustainability strategies for major projects, helping to decarbonise infrastructure across Ireland and beyond. Over time, you'll take a leadership role in shaping carbon management practices, aligning them with international standards and influencing sustainable design at a national level. Longer term, you'll become a recognised subject matter expert, driving best practice across the group and contributing to projects that define the future of sustainable infrastructure. With clear progression opportunities—including chartership support—you'll have the chance to grow into broader leadership responsibilities.

Your Toolkit for Success at Tetra Tech RPS
At Tetra Tech RPS we recruit using core capabilities - the toolkit of essentialskills, experience, competencies, and responsibilitiesrequired to perform the role effectively. As we strive to find the best fit for this position, we are seeking individuals that meet a benchmark level of expertise.

But we'll let you in on a secret: there's no such thing as the 'perfect' candidate. If you feel you meet 75% of the requirements for this role, we would love to hear from you.
Technical Expertise in Carbon Assessment
You'll bring proven experience in managing and reporting LCAs for buildings and infrastructure, ideally with an engineering, architecture, or scientific background. Familiarity with design processes, material specification, and modern methods of construction is essential, along with the ability to use LCA tools to develop robust carbon management plans.

Understanding the Built Environment
Your knowledge of building and infrastructure design will enable you to identify opportunities for sustainability improvements. Experience with frameworks such as BREEAM or LEED is advantageous, as is the ability to influence design decisions that balance innovation with practicality.

Data Analysis And Carbon Software Skills
You'll be confident working with data, performing detailed calculations, and ensuring quality control throughout the design process. Experience with tools like the TII Carbon Tool or OneClick is beneficial, but training will be provided.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
Strong communication skills are key. You'll engage with clients, regulators, and design teams, translating technical insights into clear, actionable recommendations. You'll contribute to reports, presentations, and briefings that build trust and transparency across all project stages.

Passion for Sustainability
We're looking for someone who is genuinely motivated to make a difference—committed to advancing environmental responsibility and driving sustainable practices across the built environment.

Qualifications & Experience
A primary degree in engineering, architecture, or science is expected, with chartered status or progression towards it preferred.

Equivalent experience will be considered for candidates with a strong track record in carbon assessment and sustainable design.
