Systems Application Analyst Role
The Systems Application Analyst oversees the software lifecycle management for enterprise and critical applications deployed across international facilities.
* Collects and transforms large information into meaningful business requirements;
* Develops and modifies requirements documentation for hospital administrative and clinical information system design and implementation;
* Evaluates information from various sources, distinguishes user needs from actual business needs, and partners with business users, project managers, consultants, and IT leadership to optimize project scope, benefits, and risks.
The Applications Services team facilitates comprehensive programs and governance to select, maintain, support, and optimize applications like Electronic Medical Records, clinical systems, and quality management tools.
Responsibilities:
1. Manages tools and processes to effectively oversee the full lifecycle of UPMC's inventory of software applications across facilities in Europe and future expansion;
2. Defines external interfaces, constraints, quality issues, and non-functional requirements;
3. Partners with project managers to complete requirements documentation according to project schedules;
4. Plans, organizes, facilitates, and leads meetings and workgroups, overseeing follow-up activities;
5. Documents changes to baseline requirements through standard change control process;
6. Documents software test plans, technical requirements, release notes, user guides, and training materials;
7. Coordinates unit acceptance testing and subsequent deployments with other team leaders;
8. Provides end-user and application support functions, resolving defects and performing problem-solving;
9. Develops and executes project presentations;
10. Participates in special projects as required;
11. Contributes to departmental training initiatives;
12. Manages the application pipeline of requests, prioritizing with relevant stakeholders and workgroups;
13. Oversees the full lifecycle of application integrations;
14. Interviews end-users, stakeholders, and project sponsors to assess business and clinical needs, creating business, functional, and technical requirements documents;
15. Develops and implements rigid upgrade/patching processes, including comprehensive testing, validation, and go-live decision making;
16. Develops a comprehensive training program for end-users, ensuring optimal use of applications and their improvements;
17. Maintains a disciplined documentation strategy to ensure a complete and updated set of functional and technical requirements, evaluation criteria, process flows, operational routines, training materials, and more;
18. Performs vendor management, maintaining oversight and escalations of all issues and product enhancements;
19. Monitors vendor performance according to purchasing contracts;
20. Collaborates with the technical team to facilitate direct end-user support escalations, incident response actions, and root cause analysis delivery upon resolution;
21. Performs additional duties and management responsibilities as assigned;
22. Facilitates successful project completion by embracing a team-first approach;
23. Collaborates with multiple teams, offering feedback to complete individual and group efforts;
24. Applies IT methods, professional knowledge, and industry standards;
25. Demonstrates clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications to build relationships and accomplish day-to-day work;
26. Continuously studies, trains, and seeks opportunities to stay up to date with industry trends and organizational practices;
27. Seeks feedback from management and team for development and incorporates feedback into work and behaviors;
Good knowledge of GDPR and patient data is highly desirable.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Hospital or clinic experience preferred;
* Experience supporting Patient Administration Systems, Electronic Medical Record System, Radiology/PACS systems;
* Knowledge of HL7, FHIR, API integration technologies;
* Healthcare Information Technology experience;
* Degree or certification in information technology, software life cycle management, or significant training in enterprise-level application support and maintenance;
* 3-4 years' experience implementing, supporting, and/or training on enterprise-level applications like Electronic Medical Records;
A valid driver's license is required.
