Neurodevelopmental Specialist
The role of a Neurodevelopmental Specialist is to provide comprehensive assessments and support for individuals with neurodevelopmental needs.
This includes conducting high-quality psychological assessments, providing formulations and reports, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized support plans.
As a Neurodevelopmental Specialist, you will work closely with families and professionals to understand an individual's profile and provide feedback, psychoeducation, and written documentation.
You will also contribute to innovation in our neurodevelopmental pathways, quality improvement, and service development, while providing clinical leadership and supervision to assistant psychologists and other team members as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, including cognitive, adaptive, and neurodevelopmental evaluations
* Develop and implement individualized support plans, working closely with families and multidisciplinary teams
* Provide psychologically rich formulations and reports, incorporating neurodevelopmental frameworks and best-practice approaches
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and conferences on neurodevelopmental topics
* Engage in ongoing professional development, staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in neurodevelopmental assessment and support
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Recognised university degree or diploma in Psychology, with a strong focus on neurodevelopmental psychology
* Professional post-graduate qualification in clinical, counselling or educational psychology, with a specialisation in neurodevelopmental assessment and support
* Minimum 3 years' experience in child/adolescent mental health, primary care, disability, or neurodevelopmental services
* Strong skills in assessment, formulation, and psychological report writing, with a focus on neurodevelopmental frameworks and best-practice approaches
* Ability to work compassionately with families, including those experiencing emotional overwhelm or systemic challenges
* A commitment to neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed practice, with a focus on promoting resilience and well-being in individuals and communities

1. Eligible for PSI Chartered status
2. ADOS-2 training
3. Desirable: Experience conducting diagnostic assessments for autism and ADHD
4. Knowledge of assessment tools such as QB, Conners, etc.
5. Interest in developing frameworks for formulation and documentation
6. Experience supervising assistant psychologists or trainees
7. Familiarity with Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model or similar neurodevelopmental frameworks
