Head of Enterprise – Laois County Council
The Local Government Reform Act (2014) introduced the most radical reform to the structure of the Irish local authority sector for over a century. Following the local elections in 2014, the number of local authorities in Ireland was reduced from 114 to 31, including the abolition of all town and borough councils.
The Council is mandated to deliver a diverse range of functions and services which can be broadly described under the headings of economic development, community development, the provision of physical and social infrastructure, recreation and amenity services, and the enforcement of the planning and environmental regulatory framework. The role of the County Council as provided for in law is to represent, lead and serve the communities of County Laois.
An opportunity now exists in Laois County Council for the position of Head of Enterprise.
Job Summary/Description:
The Head of Enterprise is a senior role within the Economic Development Directorate of Laois County Council. The successful candidate will lead a team charged with delivering a high standard quality system of co-ordinated and cohesive state support to the micro and small business sector.
This is a key position within the Local Enterprise Office structure of the Council. The successful candidate will play an important role in the development and implementation of a strategic plan to support enterprise, entrepreneurship and job creation at a local level and ensuring that the Local Enterprise Office serves as a “First Stop Shop” to provide services to start, grow and develop micro and small business throughout the County.
