Overview

Senior Manufacturing (Project) Engineer — 23 month contract. Location: Medtronic Athlone, Bigmeadow, County Westmeath, Ireland.


Responsibilities

* Work closely with manufacturing, quality engineers, R&D, Strategic Sourcing, Sterilisation and Packaging functions.
* Be a member of an NPI project team. Provide guidance to junior engineers regarding processes to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques; develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control.
* Collaborate on validation strategy and execution; design and plan layouts for plastics processing, assembly and equipment implementation; adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
* Assist in the design and arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure efficient and productive layouts.
* Demonstrate leadership with expert understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
* Apply process improvement techniques such as DFMA, Kaizen, DMAIC, Value Stream Mapping, Lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma; strong project management skills.
* Support diverse workforce and inclusive innovation within the team.


Key Skills & Experience

* Minimum Level 8 degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree with at least 3 years relevant experience.
* Manufacturing engineering experience in a medical device related industry with a track record of developing, maintaining and improving manufacturing processes.
* Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques to maximize manufacturing efficiency.
* Project management of manufacturing processes from concept to delivery; ability to assess issues and develop solutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals.
* Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to prepare written procedures, proposals, and reports.
* Knowledge of risk management methodologies such as PFMEA and manufacturing plant test strategies.
* SolidWorks/AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project.
* Effective communication skills with superiors, peers and subordinates.
* Six Sigma/Lean certified preferred; experience with Agile preferred.
* Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
* Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions; may incorporate inspection and test requirements into production plans.
* Ensures processes and procedures are compliant with regulations.
