Job title: Level 3 Network Security Engineer

Overview of Role
As a Senior Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of network and security services both within Ergo and across its client environments. This role requires close collaboration with subject matter experts across various practices within Ergo to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions tailored to customer requirements.
Main responsibilities include:
* Contributing to the development and execution of the Network Security Practice strategy, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives and client needs.
* Providing pre-sales technical support in partnership with Sales Specialists, including conducting in-depth technical consultations and presenting high-level architectural concepts to prospective and existing clients.
* Acting as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues encountered by engineering teams.
* Mentoring and supporting the professional development of Network Security Engineers within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Key Role Responsibilities
* Deliver advanced technical support to external clients, ensuring timely and effective resolution of network and security issues.
* Provide expert-level assistance to field engineers during on-site engagements.
* Serve as the primary escalation point for all support-related incidents.
* Collaborate with technology vendors to expedite issue resolution and maintain service continuity.
* Utilize internal systems for accurate tracking, logging, and management of support tickets.
* Employ network management and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve network performance issues.
* Support day-to-day operations within the Network Operations Centre (NOC).
* Participate in on-site activities as required, including system assessments and deployments.
* Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of both Ergo's NOC infrastructure and customer-managed network services.
* Lead the delivery of customer-facing network and security projects, ensuring alignment with technical and business requirements.
* Contribute to pre-sales efforts by providing technical input, solution design, and customer engagement support.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive customer documentation, including runbooks and operational guides.
* Create and maintain technology roadmaps to guide clients' strategic infrastructure planning.
* Support the management and evaluation of technology vendors and third-party service providers.
* Contribute to defining production strategies and infrastructure direction.
* Draft functional requirements and technical specification documents for internal and client-facing initiatives.
* Evaluate vendor development and testing methodologies to ensure alignment with best practices.
* Assist in maintaining vendor partnerships and ensuring compliance with certification and qualification standards.
Education, Qualifications and Skills
Essential Requirements
* Minimum of 10 years' hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and support of firewalls specifically Checkpoint and Fortinet
* Checkpoint CCSM or CCSM Elite certification
* Minimum Fortinet NSE4 Certification or Fortinet Certified Professional
* Proficient in secure connectivity technologies including VPN, IPSEC, and SSL VPN
* Comprehensive knowledge of network and security best practices.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
* Highly self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Exceptional attention to detail and documentation proficiency, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
Desired Requirements
* Hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and support of firewall, switching, and routing technologies, including equipment from Aruba, HPE, Cisco, and Juniper.
* Strong expertise in dynamic routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
* Experience with Voice over IP (VoIP) implementations and troubleshooting.
* Practical experience with Azure networking components such as Load Balancers, VPN Gateways, Firewalls, Network Virtual Appliances (NVAs), and ExpressRoute.
* Familiarity with Authentication and Authorization protocols, particularly RADIUS.
* Skilled in network management and monitoring using SNMP and other diagnostic tools.
* Proven track record in supporting enterprise networks built on HP, Aruba, Cisco, Extreme, or Juniper infrastructure.
* Understanding of hybrid cloud architectures encompassing on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud environments.
