About Concern
Established in 1968, Concern is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian organisation, dedicated to the reduction of suffering and the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world's poorest countries.

Concern's vision, our mission and our work are all defined by one goal – ending extreme poverty, whatever it takes. Concern strives for a world free from poverty, fear and oppression.

Our culture is values driven and we believe that our people are central to all that we do and are key to delivering on our goal of Reaching the Furthest Behind First. We are committed to ensuring a workplace where everybody feels valued and is enabled to succeed in their work and to contribute to delivering on our mission.

With a head office in Dublin, Ireland and support offices in South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the USA, Concern targets programmes in fragile and conflict-affected contexts. It employs approximately nearly 3,500 people across the globe and currently operates in 26 programme countries.

Role Purpose
As People Director, you will lead a highly effective people team to ensure that the organisation has the culture and talent to deliver on its mission at a time when the combination of conflict and climate change has greatly intensified the severity and complexity of the contexts in which we work at a time when the funding environment is becoming ever more complicated and competitive.

We work in volatile, uncertain and often insecure contexts and all of our people across the organisation, including the People Director, need to have the capacity to respond rapidly to emerging or sudden-onset crises.

The People Director will drive the organisation's People Strategy, providing strong overall management to the people function. You will be a member of the Senior Management Team, the group charged with the global leadership of the organisation.

* Reinforce and model, in line with organisation policies, a culture that prioritises providing all employees with a safe, respectful, and supportive workplace that fosters diversity, empathy, inclusiveness and a sense of belonging, where each individual feels valued and protected from any harm, and able to deliver their best work in support of Concern's mission.
* Operate critical enabling functions e.g., recruitment, performance development, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and data recording and analysis in line with good practice and legal compliance.
* Oversee learning and organisational development initiatives, with a specific focus on succession planning and talent development.
* Work with other functions/directorates to manage risk and enable the organisation to work effectively in fragile contexts.
* In line with good practice, support the development of wellbeing initiatives that improve individual and organisational capacity to respond to critical events and emergencies, and which support the development of a resilient workforce.
* Through establishing and maintaining internal and external networks, stay abreast of good practise and trends in the NGO sector, with a specific focus on people matters.
* Demonstrate willingness and ability to undertake short-term deployments and visits to any of our country programmes as needed.
