As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated - Senior Photonics Design Engineer - to join our group.What you'll doYou will take an active role in the full Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) development lifecycle, contributing from concept to validation. This includes:Defining and tracking requirements and specifications in alignment with system-level or customer goals, in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across a broad range of disciplines, including design, fabrication, packaging, and test engineering.Design and optimise complex active and passive, large-scale PICs at the system, device and component levelPropose and implement innovative design solutions across multiple technology domains including assembly integration and testing of photonics from component package to system levelDesign, source and simulate photonic components and photonic integrated circuits, including related electronics, and packagingDesign detailed layout of photonic devices and simulate the circuits with common computer-aided design (CAD) tools including Lumerical, Nazca Design, and Klayout.Implement and improve in house design toolsets, quality and traceability procedures and DRC scripts to enable PIC our design workflow.Hands-on testing of PICs at die level and in system.Evaluate design solutions with simulations and compare with test dataPlan and execute component and photonic system testsWork with foundries and manufacturers to plan and monitor research co-developments, prototyping and production timelinesPresent verbal and written findings to cross-functional teams and supervise both other photonics designers and intern studentsContribute to our IP portfolioCollaborate with a team of photonic designers, nanofabrication engineers, test engineers, and physicistsWho you areM.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, Photonics, or a related field.Demonstrated experience in the design and testing of photonic components (e.g., lasers, photodiodes, modulators).Proficient in Python and related scientific libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy; familiarity with Linux environments is an asset.Skilled in numerical simulation methods commonly used in photonics, including FDTD, EME, FDE, FEM, and time-/frequency-domain circuit solvers.Familiar with photonic test methods and willing to perform hands-on device testing when required.Strong analytical and data presentation abilities, with attention to clarity and precision.Comfortable filling a variety of roles in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and deliver high-quality results.Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accurate engineering.What\'s in it for youCareer Growth: Contribute to a world-class space-age communication program while developing your leadership skills in a state-of-the-art manufacturing environmentCollaboration: Work with talented professionals across disciplines to drive impactful solutionsInnovation: Be part of a team pioneering advancements in manufacturing engineering for cutting-edge FSO systemsWork-Life Balance: Enjoy flexible work schedules and a comprehensive benefits packageIf you\'re ready to take your career to new heights and drive the future of space-age communication, apply now and join the MBRYONICS team as our Senior Photonics Design Engineer.Diversity, Inclusion and Equal OpportunitiesCore ethical values, diversity and inclusion are invaluable to MBRYONICS’ business success.
