About the Role
As a Payroll Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end payroll services with precision and compliance. You will handle complex payroll processes, provide subject matter expertise, and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical expertise, and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
4. Manage daily payroll activities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll production, including complex and year-end processes.
5. Review payroll adjustments to ensure compliance with policies, tax laws, and regulations; recommend corrective action when necessary.
6. Record and report monthly payroll metrics.
7. Respond to payroll enquiries from employees at all levels, explaining pay matters, tax impacts, and policy changes.
8. Analyse payroll policies and processes, recommending improvements to maintain compliance and drive efficiency.
9. Partner with vendors and review payroll systems/applications to ensure accurate updates; support testing for upgrades, tax updates, and new implementations.
10. Monitor payroll tax and general ledger activities, reconciling discrepancies and liaising with Finance to maintain accuracy.
11. Stay up to date on legislative and regulatory changes impacting payroll.
12. Manage vendor relationships in line with corporate standards.
13. Act as a subject matter expert, providing coaching and support to team members, reviewing their work, and offering back-up support when needed.
14. Represent the payroll function in cross-departmental meetings and projects.
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate will bring:
* Several years of payroll experience, ideally across multiple EMEA countries.
* Strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes, including reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
* Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
* Strong organisational skills to meet strict deadlines in a high-paced environment.
* A proactive, analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Knowledge of HR and Finance functions and their impact on payroll operations.
