About the Opportunity
Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with a brand-new, state-of-the-art Cancer Centre in Limerick to recruit an experienced Oncology Operations Manager.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the operational delivery of a modern Radiation Oncology service from its inception.

The Radiation Oncology department will be equipped with:
1. Two Varian Linear Accelerators (TrueBeam & Edge)
2. CT Simulation scanner
3. Radiation Therapist-led IV contrast delivery
4. Advanced treatment techniques including IMRT, VMAT, SRS, and SABR
The centre actively supports research, education, conference attendance, and collaboration with academic partners including UCC and UCD, offering strong opportunities for professional growth and mentorship.
Role Overview
The Oncology Operations Manager will provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across Radiation Oncology services. You will oversee daily operations, quality and safety programmes, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and staff development, while fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement and exceptional patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Operations Management
5. Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations across Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology services
6. Provide visible, positive leadership to clinical and non-clinical teams
7. Ensure safe staffing levels and effective scheduling aligned to patient demand
8. Develop, implement, and administer policies and procedures to standardise high-quality patient care
9. Work collaboratively with the Director of Oncology, senior leadership, HR, and multidisciplinary teams
10. Maintain effective communication with patients, staff, and senior stakeholders
11. Support service development, promotion, and advocacy of a positive patient experience
Quality Assurance & Continuous Quality Improvement
12. Place patient safety at the centre of all operational decisions
13. Lead the department QA programme, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
14. Oversee CQI initiatives, chair CQI meetings, set measurable goals, and track outcomes
15. Lead departmental readiness for inspections, audits, and accreditations
Business & Financial Management
16. Manage operational and capital budgets in collaboration with the Director of Oncology
17. Monitor financial performance, productivity, and service volumes
18. Implement efficiency initiatives to enhance revenue and control costs
19. Maintain staffing (FTE) and supply budgets in line with activity levels
20. Oversee billing and revenue capture initiatives alongside the Medical Director
Essential:
21. Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field
22. Minimum 3-6 years' post-qualification experience in progressive management roles
23. Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) within a radiotherapy department, including leadership responsibility
24. Strong operational knowledge of radiotherapy services, workflows, and technologies
25. Proven experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management
26. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
27. Master's degree
28. Background in Radiation Therapy
