Garage Ireland Lab Manager
An exciting new opportunity has come available with our client in Dublin.
The Microsoft Garage delivers programs and experiences to employees, customers, and partners that drive collaboration, creativity, and experimentation.
The Garage is looking for a lab manager who will maintain The Garage Makerspace, the equipment, and assist with the planning, execution and delivery of events (workshops, talks, plenary sessions). In addition to this, specific project work could also be part of the job. The candidate must be a self-starter, extremely resourceful and able to deal with ambiguity; possess solid project management and problem-solving skills; be able to work independently and effectively under pressure and within short time constraints; prioritize while multi-tasking; must be personable and have solid communications skills; and, be flexible in the performance of the job responsibilities. The candidate must have an AI-first mindset and be comfortable using AI tools such as M65 Copilot, Microsoft Designer, Agent Builder as part of their daily work and to design and deliver workshops.
Candidate Responsibilities
* Garage Operations
* Assist in the maintenance of equipment in the Garage
* Ensure proper training and deployment of equipment, including documentation of best practices
* Manage Garage inventory and liaise with Procurement to maintain inventory
* Garage Programming
o Support in the delivery and execution of events & programming
o Manage the calendar and communications regarding site engagements
o 90%+ of programming is AI-first and candidate should be comfortable and curious in this area.
* Special Projects
o Assist in project-based work including hardware/software projects, 3d modelling etc.
o Liaise with Management team on site and community initiatives that involve the Garage
Qualifications should include:
* Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure, within short time constraints, and act with appropriate urgency; as well as the ability to adjust direction in response to changing work situations.
* Excellent organizational, anticipatory, and particularly written communications skills.
* Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Windows is required.
* A basic understanding of electronics, experience with makerspace tooling such as 3d printers, CNC, soldering, vinyl cutting, etc.
* Comfortable with, and passionate about Generative AI
* Basic familiarity with design and design thinking
* Experience with software programs for 3D modeling, CAD/CAM, and Illustrator.
