Forestry & Transport Manager
PE Global are delighted to be working with Ireland's Leading Timber Processing Unit. We are recruiting for a Forestry and Transport Manager for their sawn timber business, based in Fermoy.
This role will require travel to private forestry growers in the midlands region for approximately two days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
* Forestry:
o Log Procurement – valuations of forest lots, purchases from Coillte, private growers and FSNI
o Forest Site Management of the above H&S etc.
o Management of TPMS (Forest service docket system)
o Management & setting up of forest lots on NAV (Forestry Purchasing System).
o Updating NAV with auction figures & purchases.
o Updating NAV & LT with haulage costs fuel surcharges etc.
o Sales of other forest products to third parties
o Planning of all log intake to Fermoy
* Transport / Logistic:
o Transport Management & planning of sawn timber / forestry haulage.
o Management of residue materials in Fermoy and Longford, using external hauliers and monthly report of same
o Log contractor recruitment & rate setting
o Determining rates with transport companies and understand backloads.
o Management & monitoring of log stock, residues and saw dust in Fermoy.
o Scheduling of harvesting operations.
* Industry:
o Attending Coillte & FSNI quarterly reviews.
o Taking part in marketing events Teagasc Talking timber & Tullamore show.
o Attend Forest Industry transport (FITG) committee.
Candidate Profile:
* Proven experience as a forester in log procurement.
* Experience in coordinating external haulier companies.
* Relevant third level qualification in forestry is desirable.
* Self-starter with ability to work as part of a team.
* Knowledge of current legal requirements and guidelines as they relate to haulage.
* Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities
* Excellent organisational skills
* Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Membership of the Society of Irish Foresters or eligibility for membership is essential.
* Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel.
* Excellent IT skills.
