1. Documentation: Generating detailed specifications, design, development, and testing documentation for new equipment and automated systems.
2. System Knowledge: Developing and applying expertise in various automation systems, including PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.), HMIs, vision systems, robotics, PC software, and databases.
3. Troubleshooting: Analysing, understanding, and fault-finding complex automated equipment.
4. Code Management: Developing, testing, and installing code changes to existing equipment under strict change control procedures, maintaining comprehensive documentation to medical device standards.
5. Project Management: Actively participating in cross-functional teams to ensure projects (including new product introductions and equipment upgrades) are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
6. Optimization: Identifying and implementing equipment and system upgrades as part of continuous improvement programs, using metrics like Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to drive optimum performance.
7. Compliance: Ensuring compliance with EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) standards and all quality system requirements (e.g., GMP, FDA, TUV).
Education & Experience Requirements
8. Education: An Honours Bachelor's degree (NFQ Level 8) in Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Software, or a related Engineering discipline is required.
9. Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience, with essential experience in automation systems and automated production equipment within a manufacturing environment (medical device/pharma experience is advantageous).
10. Skills: Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills, leadership and influencing skills, and the ability to work well within a team and on one's own initiative.
