Data Center Engineering Operations Technician
AWS Infrastructure Services owns and operates the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring our customers have continual access to innovation.
You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and others. Your role will involve maintaining safety standards, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical equipment, and ensuring efficient data center operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety: Maintain high safety standards, promote a safety culture, and address safety risks in collaboration with teams.
2. Engineering & Facility Operations: Operate and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment such as UPS systems, switchgear, circuit breakers, generators, chillers, HVAC, VFDs, and transformers. Conduct routine rounds, supervise contractors, lead continuous improvement efforts, and provide training.
Physical Requirements
* Manual handling and lifting of equipment.
* Work shifts, including mornings, nights, and on-call rotations.
* Work at heights, in noisy environments with ear protection, and perform physical tasks.
A Day in the Life
* Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Execute project scopes, troubleshoot issues, and escalate as needed.
* Oversee third-party vendors and utilize administrative tools.

Minimum Qualifications
* 4+ years of operational experience with electrical and mechanical equipment.
* Apprentice/trades certification or diploma in Electrical/Mechanical field.
* Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
* Data Center engineering experience or relevant job experience.
* Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
* Familiarity with Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS).
