Principal Engineer - Automation
This is a hybrid role, with 3 days on site.
Location: Stryker, Model Farm Road, Cork
About the Role:
* As our Principal Engineer, you will drive a culture of automation, innovation, and continuous improvement. You will provide technical oversight of multiple automation projects and support engineers developing and implementing projects, while working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automated systems.
* You will have deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong leadership capabilities to develop and implement automated solutions that enhance our operational efficiency and product quality.
* You will devise, lead, and manage engineering programs from concept through to production readiness.
* You will mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* You will become a Technical leader of engineers working on the Automated systems. You will oversee automation projects from conception to execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
* You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and prioritize initiatives.
* You will develop technical solutions to complex problems where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
* You will lead the design and implementation of automation strategies across projects.
* You will lead design, development, testing & refinement of automated systems, subsystems & components.
* You will support code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards. You will develop and maintain automation frameworks and tools to streamline processes.
* You will develop documentation for automated systems to allow for standardization, e.g. Dynamic URS, simplified change control for automated systems, and Automation systems specifications that meet the requirements of the different standards.
* You will be a Technological expert, willing to source, investigate, and implement technological and automation advances.
What We Need From You:
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Level 8 Honours)
* A minimum of 8 years of automation engineering/systems experience.
Preferred:
* Strong understanding of automated control systems such as Allen Bradley & Siemens, and industrial automation. Proven experience with automation tools (e.g., PLC, SCADA, HMI).
* Demonstrable ability to lead significant projects and initiatives.
* To be a Technological expert, willing to source, investigate, and implement technological and automation advances, capable of technically leading a multi-disciplined team.
* To be a confident and effective decision maker, with a proven technical leadership ability to negotiate and influence others.
* Experience in Automated Packaging, Lamination, Vision, and Micro-assembly desirable.
