Job Description
Due to growth, we are hiring an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer in Dublin. This predominantly office-based role involves developing and delivering mechanical designs to ensure safe and compliant installations on site.
Responsibilities
1. Design in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations, and planning requirements.
2. Attend design team meetings.
3. Conduct site surveys of existing installations when applicable.
4. Create heating/cooling (thermal modelling) and ventilation load calculations using industry software.
5. Size and select equipment such as AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, and heat exchangers.
6. Produce above-ground drainage calculations and size drainage systems.
7. Size and select domestic hot and cold-water equipment.
8. Perform pipe and duct sizing calculations using software or spreadsheets.
9. Size and select firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems (preferred but not essential).
10. Prepare stage reports and presentations.
11. Develop Designers Risk Assessment and Mitigation Reports.
12. Detail mechanical layouts and schematics for construction.
13. Meet project delivery deadlines.
14. Produce detailed design and survey reports.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience in Mechanical Building Services Engineering for construction.
* Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
* Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, EN standards, or ASHRAE.
* Working knowledge of design software such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS.
* Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
* Strong communication skills.
