Our client, a multi award-winning child and adolescent mental health organisation based in Cork, are currently recruiting for a Medical Secretary to join their team on a permanent basis. We are seeking a sharp, warm, and highly organised Medical Secretary. As Medical Secretary, you will be sharp, warm, and highly organised to support one of the consultants in delivering outstanding care. This is an in-person role that plays a pivotal part in our clients day-to-day operations and in the relationships with the families they work with. This role can be full time or part time. The ideal candidate will be an experienced individual with prior medical secretary experience, who understands the importance of calm, clear communication. You will be key in helping a busy consultant stay aligned with processes, manage time effectively, and maintaining clinical quality.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the first point of contact for families
* Manage the consultant’s calendar, appointments, and correspondence
* Prepare clinical materials, draft letters, and type reports with precision
* Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, ensuring GDPR compliance
* Liaise with GPs, hospitals, schools, and diagnostic services to coordinate care
* Handle payments, billing queries, and insurance claims using software
* Track tasks and ensure administrative follow-through
* Bring operational strength and stability to a fast-moving clinical environment
Requirements
* Background as a medical secretary or in a similar healthcare administration role; familiar with medical terminology and medical transcription
* Organised: Someone who thrives on structure and can bring clarity to others
* Empathetic: A calm, mature presence who can engage with families from a place of understanding
* Tech-Confident: Comfortable using technology, learning new skills and exploring novel system use for an effective delivery of services.
