Our client is a very successful independent trade association representing a wide range of companies supplying products and services into the healthcare system in Ireland. They are currently recruiting a Communications, Projects and Events Manager to join their busy and dynamic team.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Communications and Events Manager to join our team and work closely with the CEO and executive. This role is critical in supporting the growth and development of our organisation through excellent organisational, communication, stakeholder engagement, event and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Projects, Initiatives and Event Management
We run several important large and small events that provide information, education and networking opportunities as well as retain and grow membership. It also ensures the organisation has its finger on the pulse of what members need.
Scope, plan and deliver within planned timelines key events supported by the team, to include member education sessions, roundtables, breakfast briefings, sponsored industry lunches and the annual Symposium and if relevant, Awards.
This role will have specific responsibility to lead, plan and effectively execute, with the team‘s support, within budget and timelines, the National Symposium and if relevant the National Awards.
Plan the use of budgets and resources to achieve desired outputs and optimum value to members. Assist with identifying key opinion leaders, agenda preparation and manage the successful execution of the day.
Communications and Marketing
The organisation‘s membership base is growing and broadening. Communications and marketing must factor in this diversity.
Strategically plan and execute marketing and communication plans. These should be relevant and linked to delivering on the organisation‘s overall strategy and work stream objectives, messaging, needs and deadlines.
Be competent in and maintain the organisation‘s CRM
Ensure planned and continuous communication with members through direct communication, updates, progress reports, and addressing their concerns and challenges.
Maintain social media platforms and link marketing and communications.
Be up to date on the latest developments in healthcare. Identifying key papers and insights from resources and ensuring these are communicated to members through media and membership engagement channels.
Working Group and Membership Management
Lead and support assigned number of Working Groups. There will be overlap, so teamwork and mutual support is critical.
Maintain up-to-date documentation and procedural correctness of meetings and discussions as per the Terms of Reference of the group.
Stay up to date with information and disseminate relevant information to the groups, for example from relevant European body.
Project manage all aspects of work related to the working groups included and not limited to programmes of work, timelines, annual objectives, working group sessions, meetings and communications for the groups.
Attend online and occasionally in person meetings and working group sessions with European counterparts. This will require taking the key learnings from this to the executive and members to inform and plan and in turn gain insights from members, to deliver on their behalf to the relevant European body.
Identify and agree a range of actions to give insight and add value to members across the sector, e.g. commissioning reports, round table discussions, running events, reviewing and disseminating EU and global regulatory and policy updates, advocating industry needs to relevant government and HSE stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with members to identify and address key issues and opportunities.
With the team support the collection of fees.
Stakeholder Engagement
Engage, build and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders including and not exclusive to members, the HSE, Hospitals, Government, academia, other equivalent trade associations throughout the ecosystem as well as national and international organisations, such as the HPRA, HIQA, and Embassies.
Regularly review stakeholders with the team and ensure that engagement is with the correct people on topics relevant to members.
Business Development
A key part of working with our organisation is prioritising the retention and growth of the member base by highlighting the value and benefits of membership and stakeholder managing members. This is executed strategically by the whole team and more specifically to this role detailed in this specification. In addition, part of this role will be to identify, prospect and engage with potential new member companies and stakeholders to include professional associates that bring additional value to members.
Support the successful delivery of the 2024-2027 Organisational Strategy.
Requirements
Candidates will have at least 5 years‘ experience within communications, event and project management, ideally within the wider healthcare sector.
Excellent communication skills and an ability to build relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated track record of effective project management and event management experience for strategic and timely execution of programmes of work.
Communications and marketing experience to continuously promote the organisation‘s events and programmes.
Positive and enthusiastic attitude with an ability to be flexible and adaptable as calendar of events, yearly strategy develops.
Present professionally with members, board and stakeholders
Preferred
Some knowledge and interest of healthcare or sciences is an advantage

This role requires the person to be a self-motivated, emotionally aware and action orientated with excellent project management and event management skills and experience. The role requires someone who can demonstrate the capability to be agile, with the ability to be adaptable and “wear many hats”. With many critical competing priorities, the person must be able to manage the nuances and sensibilities of the role, the members and ensure professionalism at all times in listening to member‘s needs. This role requires an ability to adapt, prioritise and deliver within timelines and importantly be a team player.
