Position Summary
This is a key role requiring extensive technical and organisational skills. The Facilities Technician is responsible for executing day-to-day facilities activities and achieving departmental goals for Safety, Quality, and Operational Effectiveness. The technician primarily handles maintenance and calibration of plant utilities, process equipment, and the generation of associated documentation (paper or electronic).

Internal: Plant Manager, Operations Director, Facilities Manager, Facilities Supervisor, Health and Safety, Process Manager, Planning Manager, Operations Supervisors, Plant Co-workers, Quality Operations Manager, Human Resources, Technical Teams.
External: Suppliers; Local Authorities.
Duties
Safety
* Participate in HSSE Safety committees.
* Report, trend, action, and investigate safety unsafe acts, near misses, incidents, and accidents using the appropriate STERIS electronic systems.
* Conduct safety audits as required.
* Drive safety standards throughout the site and operational work areas.
* Be an active member in all process and plant-based risk assessments.
* Ensure 5S audits are executed and maintained.
* Maintain site security standards and PPE standards.
* Have authority to delay or abort cycles in emergency situations.
Quality
* Participate in equipment/facilities-related process deviation investigations and non-conformances.
* Participate in regulatory inspections and customer quality audits.
* Ensure effective communication and escalation of facility issues.
* Maintain accurate SOPs, work instructions, and engineering procedures.
* Coordinate Change Control processes and generate required documentation.
Cost
* Monitor plant downtime and suggest improvements.
* Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with purchasing.
Delivery
* Schedule and complete external calibration equipment.
* Generate work orders and troubleshoot equipment.
* Support annual facilities budget and oversee upgrades and refurbishment projects.
* Manage call outs and standby responses.
* Participate in improvement projects and manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Emaint).
People
* Promote a proactive culture aligned with company values.
* Adhere to work schedules and carry out management requests.
* Communicate policies and participate in continuous learning and improvement initiatives.
Continuous Improvement / KPIs
* Oversee SQDC countermeasures and develop continuous improvement initiatives.
* Drive 5S programs and participate in process mapping and problem solving exercises.

Education & Experience
* Strong relationship-building skills with operations teams.
* Structured, logical thinking with analytical skills.

* Minimum 3 years relevant experience with a Trade Qualification.
