Job Description
AtkinsRéalis, one of the world's leading providers of engineering, professional consulting, and support services with offices across Ireland, is seeking an Onshore HV Cable Engineer with relevant experience.
Immediate availability is required for positions in Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Dundalk.
Types of projects include:
HVDC Interconnectors
HVAC Interconnectors
HVAC and HVDC Offshore Windfarm projects
Typical activities of the HV Cable Engineer:
Provide technical expertise in bids and proposals and represent the company in client meetings.
Perform HVDC/HVAC cable calculations, develop cable burial route risk assessments, landfall, and cable protection systems for offshore and subsea applications.
Gather and correlate engineering data, generate detailed cable reports.
Develop offshore routine engineering assignments involving HVAC/HVDC, IAC, and export cable design for static and dynamic systems.
Propose solutions to encountered problems, modifying standard procedures or developing new methods.
Review and optimize design, routing, installation, commissioning, and decommissioning solutions.
Qualifications:
Relevant experience in the field.
Electrical, electronic, power engineering, or similar qualification (HNC, HND, BSc/BEng, MSc/MEng).
Professional qualification in Electrical Engineering (CEng or working towards chartership).
Proficiency with software tools such as Cymcap, Cableizer, COMSOL for desktop studies and reports.
Strong communication skills, experience in technical report creation and presentation, client interaction.
Understanding of HVAC and HVDC transmission principles, power systems, and requirements management.
Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining safety, quality, and engineering integrity.
Willingness to participate in professional groups like CIGRE, IET.
