The ideal candidate will have a background in occupational health and safety or environmental fields, through hands-on work experience or academic study. The SHEQ Officer will collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of SHEQ. Location: Slane – multi-site role covering Slane and Knockharley
Responsibilities
1. Identify potential hazards, risks, and environmental impacts in the workplace; report on internal systems and recommend control measures.
2. Conduct regular safety inspections, environmental assessments, and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
3. Provide training to employees, contractors, and visitors.
4. Investigate accidents, incidents, and quality issues, and develop corrective actions.
5. Monitor workplace conditions to prevent occupational health issues and promote employee well-being.
6. Ensure compliance with local and regional regulations.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address SHEQ concerns.
8. Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct drills as needed.
9. Promote a culture of SHEQ excellence throughout the organization.
10. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance SHEQ processes.
Qualifications
* Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental fields is an advantage.
* Proven experience as an EHS Officer or in a similar role, preferably in a high-risk industry.
* Strong analytical skills to identify hazards, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to train employees and collaborate across departments.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
