OverviewEcologist/Forester Woodland Technician – Exciting opportunity to work with Ireland’s longest established Forestry Co-op. The role balances outdoor and indoor work and involves working with landowners, farmers and communities.Western Forestry Co-op has been empowering farmers and landowners to plant and manage their own land for over 40 years. We believe forests are best held in the hands of local farmers, landowners and communities, where all the benefits are retained locally.Essential SkillsBachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Ecology or similar Environmental Science degreeRegistered or ability to get registered with CIEEMFull Driving LicenseHighly motivated, ability to work on own initiativeComputer literate (email, Word, Excel)Good communication skills, happy to deal with people dailyAn interest in Woodlands, the timber industry and all types of treesResponsibilitiesPrimarily the role will involve producing Environmental/Ecology reports and maps required to accompany a woodland application.The secondary part of the role will be as a forestry technician as part of the team that ensures the successful establishment of our young forests, through dealing with landowners, contractors and officials.Experience not necessary as training will be provided.Location and Working ArrangementsBased in Sligo, flexible working arrangements available / Hybrid.Compensation and BenefitsCompetitive salary for the right candidate plus subsistence, bonus and company pension scheme.Equipment to fulfil role will be provided (Van, Laptop, phone, etc.).How to ApplyCover letter and CV can be sent in private to noreen(AT)westernforestrycoop.ie.
