Quantity Surveyor Opportunity
">
We are seeking a degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor to join our civil engineering team in a hybrid role, perfect for those who want a strong work-life balance while remaining connected to live construction work.
This is not your average QS role. We're looking for someone with sharp commercial instincts who thrives on the details but isn't afraid to throw on a hi-vis and dive into the nitty-gritty of site life once a week.
You'll ideally have between 3 years' post-grad experience and a background in civil engineering construction. This role could also suit a civil engineer or construction manager looking to lean into the commercial side of things.
We want someone who's not just a spreadsheet jockey—you understand how things are built, not just how they're measured.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and manage claims, valuations, final accounts, quotes, and commercial submissions with technical depth and accuracy.
* Work closely with site teams—engineers, foremen, site managers—to ensure solid record-keeping and commercial awareness on the ground.
* Oversee subcontractor and supplier procurement, negotiation, and account finalisation.
* Assist tender and estimating teams with commercial and technical input when required.
* Maintain hands-on understanding of construction methodologies—this isn't a purely desktop job.
Requirements:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
* Proven commercial nous and attention to detail.
* Strong understanding of contracts (NEC, Public Works, FIDIC) and measurement methods (TII, CESMM, ARM).
* Experience in roadworks or heavy civils a distinct advantage.
* Ability to work autonomously from home, while also engaging with site teams effectively.
Benefits:
* Hybrid working model – 4 days remote, 1 day on-site.
* Competitive salary and bonus structure.
* Pension, expenses, and other benefits.
* Opportunities for career development in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
