Overview
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed term position as a Clinical Research Associate with the Discipline of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, School of Medicine.
This position is available from 30 November 2025 to the contract end date of 29 November 2026. It is expected that the position will be renewed for a second year, subject to funding.
This position is anchored within the HRB Clinical Research Facility Galway (HRB CRFG) and the Acute and Critical Care research programme at the University of Galway. These units lead nationally and internationally in the design and delivery of clinical trials in intensive care medicine (e.g., acute respiratory failure, acute kidney injury, sepsis), with active participation in landmark studies such as HARP-2, LUNG-SAFE, REMAP-CAP, and SOLIDARITY, alongside locally initiated trials like APPROVE-CARE (awake prone positioning), CHARTER-Ireland, and the COVID-19 Biobank. The postholder will also engage with the newly established Institute for Clinical Trials, Ireland’s first such institute, which fosters excellence in clinical trial innovation, methodology, and rapid research translation through cross-sectoral partnerships.
Salary: Clinical research associate salary scale €46,305 - €52,863 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.
NB: Garda vetting is a requirement for this post (as appropriate to Child Protection Policy).
